10 Affordable Beach Vacations in 2020

If you are preparing your trip to the United States, surely you have raised the doubt that we are facing all when we plan to go on a trip to the USA: “Where are the affordable beach vacations? The east coast or the west coast of the United States? "

But either on the east coast or on the west coast, there is one thing that always surprises them: the magnificent beaches of the United States. When thinking of North America, we tend to imagine those impressive skyscrapers and bustling American cities that we see in movies or series, but the United States is a country with incredible nature and landscapes that leave those who visit for the first time speechless.

Despite its large land area, it is the 8th country with the longest coastline according to data extracted from the annual CIA publication, The World Factbook. Today we are going to devote ourselves to what are, in our opinion and without a qualifying order, the 10 best beaches on the east coast and the west coast of the United States, focusing mainly on the beach states par excellence: California, Florida and Hawaii.

La Jolla

Only with the name, it has the site promises. Although the etymological origin is not very clear, the most accepted theory is that it derives from the name given by the Spaniards who arrived in 1886. We forgive them for the orthographic fault they have committed since then in the word jewel for having one of the best beaches from the United States.

La Jolla is located on the shores of the Pacific, in the state of California. It is actually a neighborhood in the city of San Diego, but its 40,000 neighbors prefer to refer to it as a city or town, and the truth is that it is in its own right. Among its streets escorted by tall palm trees, you will find many shops and restaurants, as well as residential complexes and luxurious mansions. La Jolla is one of the most expensive and exclusive areas of San Diego as it is home to many millionaires.

Coronado

Without moving from California and right in the city of San Diego we find Coronado beach or, rather, Coronado beaches. In San Diego Bay, in front of the city's docks, we find the three beaches that make up Coronado:  North Beach, Central Beach and Silver Strand State Beach.

Malibu

Surely you know this beach or have you heard about it on occasion. The city of Malibu, at the gates of Los Angeles, is a mandatory stop for those who travel the Pacific Coast Highway, the road that crosses the west coast of California and runs through the city from end to end. And we say for mandatory because, whether or not you want to stop in the city to try to bathe in its beaches, the amount of traffic that agglomerates on that road force you to take it easy and enjoy the traffic jam for several kilometers.

Fort Lauderdale

We leave the west coast of the United States to go to the other side of the country, to the state of Florida. There we found Fort Lauderdale, the Venice of America and the city of the forts built during the Second Seminole War of Florida in 1835. Today it is one of the main tourist destinations and an important yacht harbor, symptom of the rapid growth that Ft. Lauderdale is experiencing as an industrial, financial, technological and flight connection center.

Fort Lauderdale Beach is blessed with more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year and with pleasant ocean breezes that lift almost no wind, making it one of the best beaches in the United States, idyllic to rest and relax. The transparent water is always calm, with just a few small waves and a very familiar atmosphere.

Siesta Key Beach

Without moving from Florida, but this time on the west coast of the state, we found the island of Siesta Key. Only by name can we relate that on this site the word overwhelmed occupies the last place in the list of things to do here. In fact, it was previously called Sarasota Key, taking the name of the county in which it is located, but its reputation as a place of rest and relaxation earned him the new nickname.

Palm Beach

Surely you also hear the name of this county in Florida, famous for being a traditional stronghold of Yankee millionaire families such as the Kennedy or the Trump. With this cover letter, you will imagine that in this place there is no shortage of luxurious complexes and exquisite services such as haute cuisine restaurants or the most exclusive boutiques.

In its 75 kilometers of coastline, there are many different beaches where you practice snorkeling, kayaking, fishing and other water sports. The best beach we can find in Palm Beach is Spanish River Park, located on the coast of the city known by the curious name of Boca Raton.

Kawela Beach

If paradise exists on Earth, it is undoubtedly in the Hawaii archipelago. Among all the islands, we will focus on the one known as Oahu, the most populous. In it is the capital, Honoulú, and other famous places that surely sound like Waikiki or Peal Harbor.

In the northern part of the island, we can find such beautiful prints that seem to be made with Photoshop: white sand, crystal clear turquoise water, Bengal forests ... That's where we find Kawela Beach - whose name means “the heat” -, a beach that has served from the stage to shoot the Lost series and movies like Jurassic Park, considered one of the best beaches in the United States.

Carmel-by-the-Sea

We return to the surfer and beach state par excellence that houses most of the best beaches in the United States: California. In Monterrey County, we find this small coastal town of just 4,000 inhabitants that may sound like you because of the notoriety of the name of its Republican mayor, Clint Eastwood.

The town is very beautiful to see and there is a very good atmosphere in it. The beach, bordered by huge cypresses, is 2 kilometers long and has whitish sand. It should be noted that it is a beach suitable for animals, so it is normal to find hairy pets running around and playing with their owners. As a negative point, we must say that the space enabled for car parking near the beach is not very large and is filled immediately, but this is corrected by circling the streets adjacent to the beach. It is not necessary to go very far, by the residential area of houses you will find sure some gap.

Half Moon Bay

Just 45 minutes drive from San Francisco, where you can take an English course for adults in the United States, is the picturesque beach of Half Moon Bay. It is an idyllic and perfect enclave to spend time away from the big city where you can go horse riding, play golf enjoying the wonderful views of the Pacific or visit the many shops and art galleries in the city with it Name.

Although the city of San Francisco is characterized by a colder climate, the weather is generally milder in Half Moon Bay. Every year the Festival of Art and Pumpkin is celebrated in the center of the city, which has its own brand of beer with the same name.

Santa Cruz

And finally, we highlight the beach of the Californian city of Santa Cruz, well known for its clothing brand so common among surfers and skaters around the world. We highlight this beach for containing one of the liveliest piers in California, as well as one of the best beaches in the United States. The piers are very typical structures of the Anglo-Saxon piers, which we can find throughout the coastal cities of both England and the United States. The largest leisure offer in the city is concentrated in them.
